all right good evening thank you all so much you're being here I want to introduce myself I am doctor right I'm the new principal here at Cienega Elementary and I'm very excited to be here 11s I did prepare a short presentation to go over some new information that has been coming out this week the district has been sending us new updates and revisions every day basically I got here I love you. and then I also left some time at the end so that I can hear from the families and answer any questions that you may have simple butter all right okay so court dates that we have coming up just so that everybody knows there are four dates this month in September that all of LAUSD schools will be closed so this week on Friday and then on Monday and Tuesday of next week and then also on the 16th of this month the school will be closed I can do them two speakers. we will be having our elac and SSE orientation election on September 9th at 9 a.m. that will be on soon be lucky SSA we are planning to have our next emergency drill on September 21st at 9 a.m. and back to school night that same day and more information will be coming home soon starting back to school night and then I have to ask you a question and you know that the book fair is being rescheduled we need to select some new dates in October and what are the new dates for the book fair actually yes sober October I'm going to get the calendar it'll be 8:15 October 1130 Lee Road Buffalo New York and just what the school clothes is September 3rd not the 2nd tomorrow sorry about that third Friday I eat thank you Siri all right some other things coffee talk and some other new options that we have coming up I wanted to go over I know previously we were doing coffee talk every week 6:30 I believe it was I do need to make a change to the schedule to make it more accessible to more families I want to add an option for doing it in the mornings for families that need a morning time so on the third Wednesdays I'm change the time to 9 a.m. on first Wednesday is like like today we're going to do 4:30 p.m. we're going to start creating a parent newsletter that will come home on the second Wednesdays that will have updates and animation for families specific to Cienega and also District news they will be important for families and then I want to start a new program a community Story Time program on Fourth Wednesdays translate and then I'll explain that the story time with Uncle Dina last Las pasiones Amelia payment after the community storytime the idea is to have an interactive Story Time on Zoom where we select books that would be appropriate for the grade levels open a couple of breakout rooms and have a different storytellers come and read the stories and guide through some reading practices and some discussion questions around the story that gets selected each month and also have some baseboards and activities that students can do at home with their families around the story that's being read to have an interactive process to attend to the love of reading and improve some reading skills and make more of an interactive process with reading at home with the families as well to give just increased access for families to insane gauge with the learning process at home and make that build on that connection to the school in the home for reading what is the weather in Lafayette College in because school is closed Friday we don't have covid testing this week and we return to school next week on Wednesday because Monday is Tuesday the school is closed so this is just a reminder students are not going to be required to test before they return to school on if you would like to go and schedule an appointment and take your your children or your family's to get tested you are welcome to okay so here is where a lot of new information comes in the district has sized the quarantine isolation guidelines for our district stove for unvaccinated students which is all of our children because there's not a vaccine for children under 12 if an unvaccinated student should test for covid so if a student is identified as a close contact and they are quarantined they would test for covid at day 5 or later and if that test result is negative and they are asymptomatic they can now return to school on day 8 as long as we have proof of a negative covid test I said the initial sting 60 + 7 or a student is identified as a close contact that is unpack summated if they do not read test for covid after they were identified as a close contact they must complete the whole 10 day quarantine and Because they couldn't get the exit interviews we are now going to handle that exit interview process and return students to campus from the school site so we will begin calling families tomorrow to have those conversations and determine if your child is ready to come back to school Metallica sandman but I do in photosynthesis Wella t18. Okay gracias gracias all right I see Nancy has a hand raised you hi welcome is right on my name is Nancy and I'm a mother to one of those students is going to cut and I was just wondering positive because I've seen cases where you quarantine the whole family siblings related to you know so that Kayla wasn't in close contact with someone positive but then again I see another family where they have different grade levels kids and one of them is important in the other one is going to school so how do you guys track and how do you guys know about it basically the district's policy is that when a when there is a positive case we do the contact tracing for who has been within six feet of that positive case for 15 minutes for cumulative throughout the day those are the clothes contacts that are identified and then those people are notified so that they can then begin their quarantine those are the only people that are required to be notified and identified as a close contact however because of the nature of the last set of positive cases we did also extended to include siblings MoneyGram.
