I am blessed to be a teacher.
I cant say I always wanted to be a teacher. When young students say they want to be a teacher, sometimes I wish that would have been me. I had other dreams but it wasn´t until I worked as a teacher assistant that I realized how rewarding this career is. I enjoyed being a TA so much that going to work did not feel like work, it was, and still is a pleasure.
I thought I was going to be an auto mechanic or construction worker. Those are actually hobbies now, I like to work on cars (especially classics) and enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of home improvement projects.
I grew up in West LA and went to all LAUSD schools graduating from Venice High, so I guess you can say, ¨Born n Raised¨. After that I went to Santa Monica College, San Diego State University and finally Dominguez Hills University.
While getting a teaching credential at Dominguez, I became a high school substitute teacher. Finally, after years of preparation and hard work, I was hired as a teacher. I have been a teacher now for 8 years in LAUSD, the last 2 here at Cienega. I am very happy to be part of the Cienega Family and am grateful for the families and staff that make this school great.
